Mr. Ivey is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political science. He attended Elon University School of Law, where he earned his J.D. In 2009. Mr. Ivey is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association's Bankruptcy and Appellate Practice sections. He is licensed to practice in all North Carolina state courts, the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, United States Tax Court, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Outside the practice of law, Mr. Ivey is a die-hard Clemson Tiger and DC Comics fan. He is also the father of three: twins, Charlie and Madison, and his youngest, Mason.
